40k Blood Angels and Death Company Assault Squad

I have 2 clients having 40k Blood Angels army. In other words, guess I have been painting or will be painting quite a lot of Blood Angel Space Marines.

Death Company and Blood Angels assault squad, death from the sky! The Blood Angel assault squad was done in the usual shade of Blood Angel colours. Based it with Citadel Mephiston Red and washed it with Carroburg Crimson. Next, its highlighted with Mephiston Red and Evil Sunz Scarlet.

Black I would say, its one of the most challenging shade to paint for a Space Marine. I blended and the edges of the Death Company Space Marines with Citadel Administratum Grey and Chaos Black. Thereafter, the edges were edge highlighted with white to give a more sharper feel. Think I will have more Death Company to paint in the coming projects… Cheers!

Death Company Assault Terminators and Sanguinary Priest

More Blood Angel Death company. This time its the Death Company Assault Terminator as requested by client. Just felt that the black colour armour when fielded together as a unit of 5 terminators make them look awesome.

The Sanguinary Priest was a break from the black colour scheme. It gave me a refreshing break and a boost to get the brushes in my hands. The weapon arms for the Sanguinary Priest has been magnetized. The cup which the Sanguinary Priest was holding has been filled with Citadel Blood for the Blood God paint. I must say the Blood paint is interesting. When dried, it gave a wet look just like fresh blood… Hmm! Cheers!

Blood Angels Death Company and Chaplain

After the Space Marines Ultramarines project, next lot of projects that came along was the Blood Angels, the Blood Angel Death Company. Black armour is another challenging colour scheme to work on. The usual impression for painting black colour for most starters, is usually an easy colour to manage. In reality, its one of the tough and challenging colour choice.

For the Blood Angel Death Company, the edges of the Space Marines Armour were carefully blended with Citadel Administratum Grey and Black. Thereafter the the edges were all edged out with a light mix Citadel Skull White and Midnight Blue (as requested by Client). With the highlights and blends, this made the black armour more outstanding with depth.

The thing about painting Blood Angels is that each Space Marine Blood Angels, whether its normal marines or the Death Company, they are all full of accessories all over. Nice to look at and be amazed with all the detailed accessories, but painting them can be tedious and patience is definitely needed.

The normal Marines are already full of details and accessories, talk about the characters. The Terminator Chaplain, he is filled with accessories all over his armour. Definitely a tedious task to get the accessories live with colours.

Well, though there were full of details and accessories to be painted, but once they are painted, these Marines simply looked amazing with life… Cheers!

Incoming! Stormravens!

I have a Stormraven for my 40k Grey Knights, have always wanted to get it out of the box and have it painted. But it never happened. The default Stormraven I always felt that it is a little to short in length. As a assault carrier, I thought it should be a little longer in proportion. Anyway, I got the Chapterhouse Stormraven extension kit, but I still never managed to get it painted, haha, so much for motivation.

But still in the end, I managed to get 2 Stormravens painted, but it was for clients’ commission projects.

The first one I painted was the Blood Angel Stormraven. Colour scheme was the usual Blood Angel colours. The challenge was assembling the kit. Some of the parts like the interior and cockpit all needed to be painted first then it can assembled. The assembling of the main chassis has to be perfectly glued well, and held on together with masking tape and rubber bands. Once the glue dried, the wings and the rest were a breeze.

The Stormraven was painted in basic Citadel Mephiston Red, washed with Citadel Carriburg Crimson, then layered with Citadel Mephiston Red and Evil Sunz Scarlet.

The next Stormraven from another client was also for Blood Angels, but its a Death Company Stormraven. Now with previous experience, assembling the Stormraven was a breeze this time.

Black is a challenge to paint. The Stormraven was done with basic black, then layered and blended with Citadel Administratum Grey for the shading.

Though both of them looks awesome when completed, I still feel that they are still too short in proportion. Guess the correct feel length Stormraven will be my own Stormraven I am painting. When..? Haha, for now its staying as a collection. Cheers!
